Aid L’shalom Plans May 15 Event With Sara Yoheved Rigler in Montebello

(Courtesy of Aid L’Shalom) With the onset of spring and the resurgence of social events, organizations such as Aid L’shalom are quickly regaining their footing to once again raise money for those suffering with cancer. A cancer diagnosis uproots the lives of so many; and as patients embark on the painful journey of treatment and its side effects, Aid L’shalom steps in to lessen the burden and offer solace and comfort during this most chaotic time.

During the quiet weeks of Sefirat HaOmer, where gatherings that boast a musical entourage are restricted, leaving our social calendars more sparse, “A Night of Body, Soul, and Spirit” on May 15 at 6:30 p.m. promises to be a fun evening out. But it embodies much more than just “fun.”

When many aspects of our being are enlightened simultaneously, we truly come alive. This event, which will be held in a tent in Montebello, is one of those moments to experience what that means. The keynote speaker, Rebbetzin Sara Yoheved Rigler, will be in from Yerushalayim for just a few days, and will be gracing us with her uplifting, unique and inspiring words. If you haven’t yet heard her speak, now is the time as she is no ordinary rebbetzin—she became a baal teshuva in her late 30s after a long journey that included studying in India and living in an ashram for 15 years. She is now a highly sought-after lecturer on the subject of Jewish spirituality, and always offers tools for practical growth.

Amongst the many books Rigler has published is her recent “I’ve Been Here Before: When Souls of the Holocaust Return,” a truly fascinating compilation of testimonials, anecdotes and eight years of research that illuminates the concept of gilgul and offers comfort to many regarding the losses we have endured and continue to endure. Her speech will be called “Gilgul: How the Journey of the Soul Can Yield Happiness,” and it is open to both men and women. Her speech will surely touch your spirit, and maybe even help you understand your past.

Appealing to the body will be a unique and delectable spread by Rockland County’s “The Grillfather,” also known as the “Daddio of the Patio.” He is known for his exceptional charcuterie boards, sumptuous smoked meats and flavorful barbecue delicacies, and the dinner spread is sure to satisfy every palette. There is also a wine and spirits tasting by the renowned Herzog winery.

The soul will be stimulated by the classic tunes and melodious voices of Soulfarm, accompanied by percussions whose beats will resonate in the heart, chanting tunes both familiar and new, connecting us to a higher spiritual plane.

Important to note are the exciting raffle packages, an option to add on with the entrance fee. Win a three day, two-night stay at the all new kosher hotel in Bay Harbor Islands, the Altair, as well as a $500 gift package from the Grillfather, jewelry and Herzog wine.

Please check the website to secure your spot at the event as seats are limited. And open your hearts to this meaningful organization whose mission it is to “Ease the Dis-ease.”
