American Friends of Shalva held a successful “Thursday Night Live” comedy event on June 22 at the home of Hillel and Elaine Weinberger in Teaneck. It was a beautiful summer evening of delicious sushi and desserts, great drinks and a fabulous performance by comedian Gary Gulman. The program also included a moving video about Shalva and opening remarks by Kalman Samuels, Shalva’s founder, and American Friends of Shalva board member Hillel Weinberger. Guests also heard remarks from Bennett Schachter, whose daughter, Hannah, celebrated her bat mitzvah at the Shalva National Center in Jerusalem this past winter, where she organized games, crafts and fun for the children.
Over 100 guests attended the event, which raised critical funds for Shalva’s summer day camp and sleepaway camp programs. Co-hosts who contributed to the evening were Hannah and Alan Feder, Careena and Drew Parker, Gail and Binyamin Rieder, Tammi and Bennett Schachter, Daniella and Daniel Seligsohn and Jacques Semmelman.
