AMIT Atidim Film Students Reel In Another Success

(Courtesy of AMIT) Lights! Camera! And most importantly, action! Students from AMIT Atidim Junior and Senior High School took first place at a national competition for creative youth with their film, “Gog and Magog.”

This is another achievement for the students of the film and communications track at the school, who already have competed in international competitions for student films numerous times.

The students won two awards for “Gog and Magog (Armageddon),” one for best production and another for best feature. Yossi Bar David, who heads the Education Ministry’s film and communications track, awarded the AMIT team their honors.

The film, which was produced in 2017 by students who are now in the army or in the process of enlisting, sounds like something of a horror film crossed with science fiction. It tells the story of Adam, 18, who survives a war in 2023 in which the Jewish community in Israel is destroyed by terrorists. As Adam searches for other members of his family, unwanted visitors sabotage their reunion.

Another film created by students at the school made it to the finals of the Valencia International Film Festival, which promotes young filmmakers, in the category of films made by students under the age of 12. The film, called “The Test,” is a morality tale about a student who steals a test from the teachers’ room and distributes it to his classmates on Facebook.

“The film, television and communications track at the school is one of the leading ones in the country,” said Etti Laredo, AMIT Atidim’s principal. “Every year, films from the school take part in and win competitions at festivals in Israel and abroad. Many of the track’s graduates go into the communications field in the army and in civilian life, and we will continue to lead our students and alumni to excel academically and have strong vales as well.”

AMIT is leading the educational revolution in Israel with cutting-edge Jewish values-based education and having a profound impact on Israel’s educational landscape and its society. AMIT is creating an educational sea change with its innovative pedagogical methods. Recently AMIT was named the #1 Education Network by the Ministry of Education in Israel.
