(Courtesy of AMIT) AMIT, a nonprofit organization that has been a leader in Israel’s education system for over 98 years, announces the launch of its annual “Mother in Israel” fundraising campaign, which supports the vital work done by AMIT’s 24/7 after-school empowerment program for Israeli teenagers facing significant personal and societal challenges. The 2023 campaign launches now and runs through June 8.
For many teens in Israel, the end of the school day means facing a host of obstacles, including food insecurity, family instability and personal crises. AMIT’s program offers a safe and supportive environment where students can receive personalized tutoring and academic support, and engage in a range of extracurricular activities, empowering them to overcome adversity and reach their full potential.
“AMIT’s 24/7 after-school empowerment program has been a lifeline for 40,000 Israeli teens, providing a nurturing environment where they can learn, grow and thrive after school,” said AMIT President Audrey Axelrod Trachtman. “Recognizing your mother, grandmother, daughter or friends this Mother’s Day as an AMIT ‘Mother in Israel’ makes a special gift that helps fund the critical work done by our 24/7 program.”
The “Mother in Israel” campaign highlights the impact that AMIT’s 24/7 program has had on the lives of countless Israeli teens, including Shimon*, a former 24/7 student from Lod. Despite facing disciplinary challenges in school, Shimon discovered his love for cycling and combat fitness through the program and received personalized tutoring to help him achieve his academic goals. He went on to become the first person in his family to graduate from high school, completed an elite IDF unit trial, and was accepted into a paratrooper reconnaissance unit.
With the support of donors, AMIT’s 2023 “Mother in Israel” campaign aims to ensure that every Israeli teen has access to the opportunities and support offered by AMIT’s 24/7 after-school empowerment program. From leadership and community-building to personalized learning, technology, science and the arts, the program provides a wide range of tools and resources to help students overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
“We invite everyone to join us in supporting this important initiative and helping to create a brighter future for the next generation of Israeli citizens,” said Trachtman. “Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of these young people and their families.”
