AMIT Students Win the Young Entrepreneur National Cup

Modiin, Israel—Students from AMIT Sutker Modiin Jr. and Sr. High School won first place in the “Young Entrepreneur” national competition last Thursday. The AMIT Sutker team will go on to represent Israel at the international entrepreneurship competition in Belgium next month.

Students from the ninth grade participated for the first time this year in the “Young Entrepreneurs Doing Business” project, in which they were exposed to the world of entrepreneurship and business throughout the year. The students set up a company called Promotor, and created “pick-nic,” an experiential tablecloth that entertains those eating at the table with riddles and facts about Israel and turns into a garbage bag at the end of the meal.

Rabbi Itamar Haikin, principal at AMIT Sutker commented, “The students have acquired, beyond their entrepreneurial skills, values such as preserving the environment for a beautiful land of Israel, and wildlife in nature.”

The students sold more than 2,000 tablecloths at a price of NIS 15 per tablecloth. Their business plan is to cover production costs and to utilize the rest of their earnings to contribute to the community. To learn more visit www.amitchildren.org.
