The Yiddle League season came to a conclusion this past Sunday amidst perfect weather. The World Series Games were quite lengthy and they featured some great games throughout the various divisions. Dovid Katz’s bases-clearing triple, along with home runs from Yehuda Schwartz and Gavi Rothenberg, highlighted a comeback win for the sixth-eighth grade Rothenberg Law Firm Phillies team. The season ended with the annual pizza parties for all Yiddle League participants and spectators sponsored by Jerusalem Pizza and Yiddle League.
It was great to see the younger boys improve their fielding as the season progressed. In addition, it was very nice to see fourth graders greatly improve over the course of the season when facing some of the shutdown fifth-grade pitchers, including Yehuda Salomon, Elimelech Schonfeld, Yisroel Feit, Yehuda Bloom, Menachem Rothenberg, Tzvi Goder and Yanky Jacobovits.
What was most rewarding throughout the season (which began in April), was being able to constantly reinforce to the boys the concept that Yiddle League is about having a good time while playing a game with proper middot; the outcome of the game being secondary. Yiddle League continues to not keep standings to stress this point. Boys chosen by their respective coaches will be receiving a certificate at one of the local kosher restaurants or a trophy.
The Jewish Link, one of Yiddle League’s numerous sponsors, deserves a hearty yasher koach for their support and interest in the Yiddle League season.
