The adult education committee of Cong. Rinat Yisrael Presents “The Power of Partnership: Escaping Yemen,” on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at 8 p.m. This program will feature American Jewish Committee leader Dan Pincus in conversation with Mohammed Al Samawi, a human-rights activist who recently escaped the war in Yemen.
Mohammed’s work toward Muslim-Jewish peace building in Yemen made him a target of extremist forces who threatened his life. With the help of Jewish friends, he was able to secure safe passage out of Yemen. Mohammed and Daniel will be sharing Mohammed’s story and his harrowing escape that involved hundreds of people and spanned six continents.
Daniel Pincus is a consultant with The Quantic Group in Livingston, New Jersey. Passionate about interfaith relations and arts, he serves on the boards of the American Jewish Committee, Muslim Jewish Conference and Beit Hatfutsot. He received degrees in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and lives in New York City. Mohammed Al Samawi is a Yemeni activist promoting interfaith relations between Muslims and Jews, Arabs and Israelis. After escaping the war in Yemen, he relocated to Washington, DC, where he works for the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy, doing research on religious extremism in Yemen and Pakistan.
