‘Anchoring Thru Life’s Challenges’ Book Coming August 19

Joy Furer is launching her new book, “Anchoring Thru Life’s Challenges” (Mazo Publishers), about perseverance amid struggle, by staying anchored to Hashem through Kabbalah insights and Torah. Joy is a School Psychologist trained in crisis intervention whose goal is to help people experiencing life challenges and provide them with tools to cope, while reaching their potential. This book focuses on specific strategies and interventions based on her professional expertise in Psychology.

Joy uses personal anecdotes to enhance the book’s message. She relates a story in which two muggers attempted to kidnap her, as well as the experience of her mother having stage 4 breast cancer. “When an individual battles cancer and other life-threatening challenges, I highly recommend not hiding them. Have others, in his/her merit, do mitzvos and good deeds. May this message be a blessing for the memory of my precious Mom Zahava bas Yechezkel z’l who exemplified these words and inspired all who knew her.”

In order to stay strong in tough times, she emphasizes relying on Hashem: “As my father would say, ‘G-d has a Divine plan; always know that everything from G-d is for the good.”

Joy, originally from Los Angeles, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Hunter College and Masters’ degree in School Psychology from Long Island University. She has been a School Psychologist for twelve years.

She has participated and volunteered for kiruv organizations, such as Aish HaTorah, Manhattan Jewish Experience and Hineni, helping many non-observant Jews connect to their Judaism. She has also volunteered at Hillel on college campuses and enjoys helping others live life to the fullest. Joy’s passion for chesed finds its way in her new work, as “the foundational message in this book is that Hashem hears your prayers, and the importance of giving charity and helping others, especially those who are less fortunate” (back cover).
