Anne Frank, a young girl, survived in a hideout for 25 months. There was no escape for her. No airplanes flew in to rescue her from the venom of Jewish hatred. A paralyzed Dutch government, a rock solid German occupation, no U.N., no Israel, only a small attic. That was Holland then. Today, there is a U.N., a Dutch government. a democratic Europe, and an insidious pervasive hatred of the Jews all over the world. Thousands of Jews were recently trapped in the land of Anne Frank.
In his world acclaimed book, “The Abandonment of the Jews,” during the Holocaust, David Wyman, who was not Jewish, concluded his examination of the Shoah by asserting that the single most important factor in the protection of Jews today is Israel. What greater conclusion could one reach today in that Israel, in the midst of their war of survival, sent El Al to rescue thousands of Jews. Not the Dutch government, not the U.N., not the Red Cross, not the United States, but the besieged Jews of Israel came to the rescue.
It was not so long ago that I visited the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. At that time I could not imagine the events that recently took place in Amsterdam could take place in 2024. How many 9/11s, 10/7s, 11/9s must occur before we recognize the threat for what it is? The support of Israel is so vital to the future of the Jewish people.
Certain current factors, which include the selection of President Trump’s incoming staff, makes me want to believe that the American government recognizes the existential threat to Jews. This is not the first time that the land of Persia has tried to destroy the Jewish people, but this time Persia (Iran) would take down the whole world to accomplish their ultimate goal. One can easily see the role of Persia in inspiring masses of people to harass Jews from Amsterdam to New York City, “From the River to the Sea.”
