Announcing New Yeshiva Program In Monsey: Bais Medrash Ner Torah

This coming fall, Elul 5780, Yeshiva High School of Monsey, which first opened its doors four years ago with its successful high school, will inaugurate its first-ever Bais Medrash program for post-high school boys. Bais Medrash Ner Torah is the brainchild of Rabbi Dovid Rubin, the Menahel of YHSM, who believes that there is a great need for a local morning program that will allow talmidim to continue and grow in their learning in a warm yeshiva environment while earning college credits toward a degree. The Bais Medrash will offer a diverse and interesting program each morning, led by the experienced Mechanech Rabbi Yosef Loewy. Rabbi Loewy recently relocated to Monsey after serving a number of years as rav of The Young Israel of East Northport in Long Island. He is known for his warmth and his ability to connect with his talmidim and form a lifelong kesher with them.

The yeshiva will offer shiurim in practical Halacha, Gemara, Chumash and machshava, broadening the knowledge of all the talmidim. There will be in shabbosim and retreats throughout the year enhancing the achdus and ruach in yeshiva. The yeshiva seeks to develop the unique strengths of each student and give them necessary life skills. In the afternoon, students will either be taking college classes pursuing a degree or will be set up with a vocation that they desire.

The Bais Medrash program will also benefit the high school talmidim at Yeshiva High School of Monsey, who will have the opportunity to interact with and observe from role models of older talmidim learning at their facility. Currently, the yeshiva facility is closed due to Covid-19, and the shiurim and classes continue to take place via Zoom. Rabbi Reuven Mendlowitz, the ninth grade rebbe, expressed his nachas at the incredible commitment of his talmidim, who continue to display hasmada in learning despite this closure. Needless to say, the talmidim are anxious to resume in-person learning this coming September.
