With the holiday of Chanukah right around the corner, Anshei Lubavitch alumni had a fun-filled Maccabee Makerspace reunion this past Sunday. Led by youth directors Rabbi Eli and Ruty Steinhauser, the children teamed up to use their imaginative and creative powers in Chanukah-themed activities.
The Maccabee Makerspace consists of workshops where children built a robot dreidel, and created a jumbo-sized S’more menorah.
“Most kids I’ve taught learn best when they’re using more than just their minds. STEM activities, like the ones we did in the Maccabee Makerspace, are the best method for imparting real knowledge to children in a way that they will both enjoy and retain. When they’re working in teams and using their hands, it’s so effective and they love it,” said Morah Ruty.
