Morah Leah’s gimmel class continued their transportation unit with a special solar system week. Students came to school on Monday and found that the classroom had been transformed into outer space complete with astronaut and alien costumes. Over the week, the students brought the solar system theme into their learning, art and play. Using various process art techniques, the students created solar system books with all of the planets. Students also made their own telescopes which they used to study the sky. The week’s activities also included magnet orbit play, creating “moon rocks” out of homemade Play-Doh, drop painting planets and special solar system songs and activities.
