On the Tuesday before winter break, first and second graders were treated to a special Zoom visit by author Bracha Goetz, author of 39 children’s books. During the visit, Goetz read several of her books. While reading the first book, with a Tu B’Shevat theme, “Hashem’s Candy Store,” she used real fruit and vegetables to illustrate the concepts in the book. In another very creative book, “Let your Fingers do the Mitzvos,” she had small cutouts for fingers to poke through to play a part of that page’s featured mitzvah. The children loved hearing about how she gets her inspiration, especially when she showed them her early morning scribbles from when her dreams provided her with good ideas. She also explained to the children how she works with illustrators and artists. What a special Tu’BShevat treat!
