Ilana Kurshan will speak from Israel via Zoom on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. in coordination with Congregation Etz Chaim of Kew Gardens Hills Shiur HaChodesh for Women by Women program.
Kurshan, author of “If All the Seas Were Ink” and teacher of Talmud in Jerusalem, will speak on “Translating Torah Into the Language of Our Lives” and discuss her work as a translator. She is interested in how people make meaning by translating Jewish texts into their own terms. Looking at Talmudic sources about the first translation of the Torah into Greek, Kurshan will reflect on what it means to live and think in both Jewish and secular languages.
Men are welcome. Contact [email protected] for more information and Zoom link.
