(Courtesy of Ma’ayanot) Now that students are back in school after yeshiva break, adults can return to learning as well—with a full schedule of new adult-education opportunities at Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School. All classes are open to the community, and men and women are welcome.
A new shiur series with Tanach teacher Leah Herzog begins Thursday, February 1, and continues weekly through March 8 (no class on Purim, March 1). The topic is “Tov L’hodot LaHashem: An Exploration of the Shabbat Tehillim.” The class takes place 12:50-1:50 p.m. in the Mac Lab at Ma’ayanot, 1650 Palisade Avenue in Teaneck.
The Ma’ayanot book club meets at 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5. Join Ma’ayanot English teacher, Shalvi Isseroff, for a fascinating discussion about “‘Sing, Unburied, Sing: A Novel’ by Jesmyn Ward.”
Ma’ayanot is also introducing a new two-part nutrition series with Coach Gila Guzman, Ma’ayanot nutrition teacher, in-house nutrition coach at Grand and Essex in Bergenfield and nutritional specialist at Camp Mesorah. The first session, “Intuitive Eating & Healthy Habits vs. Willpower & Dieting,” will take place Monday, February 12, at 8 p.m. The class will address ways to relax on Shabbos while remaining diligent with your food choices, and will include a smoothie demo, perfect for breakfast, lunch or snack on busy Fridays.
The second session, “Transforming Your Shabbat Table From Sweet to Savory,” will take place on Monday, April 23, at 8 p.m. Coach Gila will address our relationship with food, as well as provide a cooking demo—cauliflower rice with a toppings bar.
All sessions will take place in Teaneck. Please contact Pam Ennis, [email protected], or visit www.maayanot.org/community for locations. Sponsorships are welcome.
