Congregation Bais Yitzchok Chevrah Thilim of Elizabeth, NJ, will celebrate its 45th Annual Gathering and Awards Dinner on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at the “Y” of Union County. Recipient of the Kesser Shem Tov Award will be Dr. Eugene Steinhart of Elizabeth. Dr. Steinhart, a longtime board member of the congregation and active participant in all shul activities, is a school psychologist for the Roselle Public Schools. Dr. Steinhart, his wife Esther Addison-Steinhart and their family have lived in Elizabeth since 1987.
Also being honored that night will be those shul members and friends who kept the daily morning minyan viable and consistent during last year’s challenging winter. Despite severe weather, the early-morning minyan continued through their efforts.
Bais Yitzchok, as it is called for short, was founded in 1923, as the second orthodox shul in the Elmora neighborhood. Today, it is affiliated with the Jewish Educational Center’s body of schools and synagogues. Those interested in more information about the dinner are asked to check the shul website at www.baisyitzchok.org for details and to register a desire to participate.
