Norwood–Now that I am becoming a Bat Mitzvah, I am responsible for myself and my deeds. I want to do something special not for me, but for Israel. Now that I am older I can really take charge of making a change in the world…even, if it is a small change.
As part of my Bat Mitzvah project I am seeking to raise $30,000 to build a bomb shelter in Israel. I chose JNF as the beneficiary of my project because I know that with its help I will be able to reach my goal. I am very impressed with the work it does, such as the indoor playground/bomb shelter it built. It is a sad thought that children in Israel have to live in terror and have to run to bomb shelters as a way of life. The fact that they have a safe place to play because of the JNF is incredible!
Recently, 4-year-old Daniel Tragerman was killed by shrapnel from a rocket that was fired into Israel. I want to help stop this. I want to build more bomb shelters so it is easier for people to find one. The more bomb shelters there are in Israel, the safer people will be. Even if it is just one more shelter, I know it could help save many lives. I really care about this cause; I want everyone to be safe.
To raise funds, a carnival is going to take place at my home on September 14. I think that this will be a fun way to raise money that everyone can enjoy. I will also be speaking to the kids at my school about my Bat Mitzvah project. I want to encourage them to come to my carnival and I will tell them to ask their parents to donate to my fundraising page at http://tinyurl.com/kaeszvh. Even if the money I hope to raise is just to make a small difference, that small difference might make a huge impact and save someone’s life.
