(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) On the eve of Yom Kippur 20 years ago, Rebbetzin Chaya Esther Zaltzman was killed in a tragic accident. The mikvah in Hillside was built in her memory one year later and carries her name as well as the name of her granddaughter, Bat Sheva ob”m, who passed away a year before her.

Chaim and Shanie Cillo, co-sponsors of the project, with Rabbi Mordechai and Shterney Kanelsky.

The mikvah committee, under the leadership of Rebbetzin Shterney Kanelsky, who is the daughter of Rebbetzin Chaya Esther ob”m, and the mother of Bat Sheva ob”m, undertook to expand and better the popular mikvah by building a reservoir to ensure that rainwater is consistently available.

The kashrus of the mikvah and the reservoir is under the guidance of Reb Yirmiyahu Katz, who has built over 250 mikvaos and is an expert in all the halachos pertaining to building and maintaining a mikvah.

The construction underway.
