Despite the steady downpours predicted by the weather forecast, nothing could stop the 350+ players of the Bergen County Flag Football League. A high level of competition and midot were on display for the family and friends who huddled under their umbrellas to support their BCFLers.
This week’s spotlight game takes us to the state-of-the-art Vince Lombardi Memorial Field in Palisades Park. The 4/5 Eagles were pitted against the 4/5 Bills. Each team entered the game with identical 1-1 records. Knowing the value of every victory in such a competitive division, both teams entered the games with a burning desire to win. The game was a defensive battle with both teams battling for every yard. The Bills were up six (after being denied on their lone extra point attempt) and the Eagles were marching up the field. Eagles quarterback Nathan Kawalsky saw an open receiver down field and sent a perfect spiral his way. Bills safety Dovid Last picked it off and returned it for his second pick 6 of the season, sealing the victory for the Bills. It was a truly great game and everyone had a blast!
