Winnie Herman, Kaydin Herman and Scarlett Nulman sell BCFL gear to raise money for the IDF.

(BCFL) With everything going on in the world, the boys of the Bergen County Flag Football League finally enjoyed good football weather this past Sunday. The many parents and spectators were treated to 20 fiercely competitive games.

At the Henry Hoeble field, the Burger Boss Cardinals almost pulled off an epic upset as they were down one touchdown with 30 seconds to play. Nadav Furer picked off a pass and ran it back to the 50. The Cardinal were without any remaining timeouts and had to execute their hurry up offense to get one more play off. The QB found Avrumie Fogel in the slant for a gain of 30 as the clock expired with the Cardinals so close to tying it up.

Earlier in the day at the Vince Lombardi field, the La Cucina De Nava Seahawks were up 18-6 over the Giants with five minutes left. The Giants scored a quick TD on the Seahawks. The Giants forced a three and out, got the ball back and immediately scored again. After a successful extra point, the Giants took the lead, 19-18 Giants. With 30 seconds left, the Seahawks got to work. After a short gain and calling their last timeout, the plan was a quick screen from Sammy Lewin to Aryeh Westreich to run out of bounds and set up a hail-mary. Instead, Westreich hauled in the short pass, juked a few defenders and took the ball all the way down the sideline to score a game clinching touchdown. The Giants had two chances with the clock expiring, but that’s when their comeback came up short: 24-19 Seahawks.

The shorthanded Burger Boss Cardinals almost pulled it out at the final second.

The Bergen County Flag Football family is very proud to have raised $500 that was already sent to help our brothers and sisters in Israel. A special thank you to Winnie Herman, Kaydin Herman, Allie Stone, Julia Reich and Scarlett Nulman for manning the table.
