BCHA Holds Leadership Ceremony

On May 8, Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy hosted the Nancy z”l and Kamal Haron Center for Leadership Ceremony, as seventh graders were recognized for stepping up as school leaders.

The event, held on the same day the eighth graders left for their trip to Israel, began with Rabbi Tzvi Bernstein, head of school at BCHA, welcoming parents and students to the event. After seventh grader Eliora Wolfe gave a dvar Torah, upper school student Tamar Links spoke. Charlie Lastoff, Hannah Tobin and Yoni Weisser spoke about character, compassion and chesed, respectively. Once a video presentation finished, Rabbi Bernstein, along with Middle School Principal David Giver, handed each student a gold medal to honor the occasion.

The Center for Leadership, created by fifth-grade teacher Adrianne Robinson and fourth-grade teacher Beth Fritz, came out of genuine interest in helping students realize their potential in BCHA, the community and the world at large. In addition to creating opportunities with organizations like UJF, JFS, FIDF and Wheel It Forward, the Nancy z”l and Kamal Haron Center for Leadership holds three influential alumni speakers throughout the school year for BCHA eighth graders.
