BCHA Upper School Prevails in CIJE-Tec VEX Robotics Tournament

All three Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy teams qualified for the playoffs in the recent CIJE-Tec VEX Robotics competition, in which students in grades 10-12 competed.

The competition took place at HAFTR and included Central, Yeshivat Frisch, Schechter School of Long Island, the JEC and Yeshiva Sha’arei Zion.

According to Dr. Paul Castle, STEM Department chair at BCHA, the tournament was intense but was also played in a collaborative atmosphere, with alliances being made between partner teams and strategies being negotiated, agreed and implemented. When asked about the high standards of the competition and BCHA’s performance, he said, “I am so proud of our engineering students for the creativity, tenacity and teamwork they showed both in their preparations for this tournament and during the competition itself.”

Out of the 33 teams competing, the three BCHA teams finished second, thirrd and fourth, just as their exceptional creativity, problem-solving and work ethic deserved. BCHA will now move on to the semi-final rounds in early 2025.

Congratulations to the students who represented BCHA so skillfully!
