Last week, the entire BCHA community celebrated the undefeated season of the upper school girls volleyball team with a special assembly for the raising of the championship banner, followed by a celebratory (indoor) “ticker tape” parade.
Parents, students, teachers and staff joined together to celebrate an extraordinary group of young ladies who beat, amongst other schools, the King School, Greens Farms Academy, The Harvey School, St. Luke’s, Sacred Heart, Greenwich Academy and Cardinal Kung—all known for great athletic departments.
In congratulating the team, Head of School Rabbi Tzvi Bernstein remarked, “I think it is safe to say that each of these schools now fields a volleyball team which has new respect for Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy,” to tremendous applause. He continued, “Perhaps we should rename our team, The King Davids, for such is their ability to defeat the volleyball Goliaths of our competitors.”
Each team member was individually congratulated by Athletic Director Karen Cella and the school’s faithful mascot, the BCHA Bobcat. The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the 2024 season championship banner, to the delight and cheers of the close-knit school community.
Kol hakavod to the upper school champions who represented the BCHA values of sportsmanship and victory so successfully.
