This past Sunday, the Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies held a program to commemorate Kristallnacht. The program was led by guest speaker Neil Garfinkle. Garfinkle is an experienced educator with a passion for teaching about the Holocaust. He is also a program liaison for the Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Teachers Program and leads teachers on a trip to Poland and Germany every summer. Garfinkle spoke to the students about the events leading up to Kristallnacht, mentioning that some Holocaust survivors prefer that the event be called the November Pogroms and not Night of Broken Glass. He led a Q&A session with the students about these events. After the program he stayed for the bagel break, allowing students to ask any additional questions.
