BCHSJS Students Give Back in New Orleans

This past week, students from the Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies returned home from a tikkun olam trip to New Orleans. The purpose of the trip was to work with Habitat for Humanity, to contribute to the ongoing rebuilding of neighborhoods destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and to bring energy efficient light bulbs to homes in need of affordable lighting through Project Green Light. Whether painting trim, raking a backyard or installing a light bulb, the students put on finishing touches that would welcome people home to a better life. The trip left a profound impact on the students, and on the BCHSJS community when the students shared their experiences with their friends.
