BCHSJS Students Join in Scavenger Hunt

Students from the Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies enjoyed a brisk, fall, morning outside the walls of their regular Sunday classrooms at Van Saun Park. Students regularly discuss how Judaism weaves itself into their lives, and on this particular November morning, they went on a hunt for answers learning how gratitude is actually a Jewish value.

The scavenger hunt had clues taking them all over the park where they discovered things like the fountain commemorating the spot that George Washington found flowing fresh water for which he was grateful, homes of animals beyond the zoo, and included a moment where they wrote their own prayers for the morning and evening.

As the teachers tallied up the scores, BCHSJS students packed toiletry bags for the Federation’s Mitzvah on the Move project.

Students are grateful for their community and had a wonderful time exploring it.
