Students from the Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies who are in the Jewish Volunteer Corp, in which they learn about the elderly and have visited with residents of The Daughters of Miriam throughout this school year, also participated in The Better Together Writing Contest, which is generously supported by a prominent national foundation. The following students won silver medals for their essays on a relationship with an elder person: Rebecca Brandon, Ben Fink, Julia Holzsager, Melissa Knopf, William Milun, Carmel Ohring, Eitan Schkolnick, Lilliana Silver and Myles Suchoff. Abby Stern won a gold medal for the best essay.
