Be Inspired at RCBC’s Kinus Teshuva

To set the tone for Aseret Yemei Teshuva and help us prepare for Yom Kippur, the RCBC is offering a Kinus Teshuva event this Sunday, October 6, at Congregation Shaare Tefillah. Adult education classes are somewhat unusual for the organization, but RCBC President Rabbi Kenny Schiowitz told The Jewish Link, “There are so many shiurim going on in the neighborhood, but they’re all linked to specific shuls, so we wonder if this would be a nice addition—something that’s open for everyone. This idea is kind of an experiment and we’re eager to see if people have an interest in this.”

The morning will begin with Selichot at 8 a.m., followed by Shacharit at 8:30 a.m. and light refreshments. Then, from 9:20 to 10:30 a.m., attendees will hear three mini-shiurim from a diverse list of speakers, all community all-stars who were eager to be a part of this endeavor. Congregation Beth Abraham’s Rabbi Yaakov Neuburger will speak on “The Thirteen Midot: A Covenant? An Incantation? Or a Template Finding Meaning in the Yom Kippur Selichot”; Lamdeinu’s Dean Rachel Friedman will address “Mending and Making Amends: The Message of Se’ir La’Azazol in the Yom Kippur Musaf”; and Netivot Shalom’s Rabbi Nathaniel Helfgot will discuss “Yearning for God’s Presence: The Road from Tisha B’Av to Yom Kippur.”

When asked if this would be an annual event, Rabbi Schiowitz said, “We’ll see how successful it will be, and if there’s a good response we’d be thrilled to do it again.”

Join the RCBC on Sunday for this unifying community event at Congregation Shaare Tefillah at 510 Claremont Avenue in Teaneck.
