Beit Hamikdash 3.0: BCHSJS Students Take Design Challenge

This past Sunday, the students in the Crafting a Jewish Life class competed in a 50 minute design challenge called “How Would You Build a House on a Hill?: Beit Hamikdash 3.0. The topography of Mt. Moriah was a core element of the challenge to design a modern Holy Temple in Jerusalem for the 21st century. Working with clay, the students recreated the slopes of the mountain and then assembled their imaginative models on it. The entries were judged by four faculty members for size, beauty, structural viability and utility as a place of worship for all Jews. The winning project included a ramp for accessibility, a multi-colored dome symbolically welcoming all denominations and an aron kodesh for Torahs.
