Leket Israel is pleased to announce that Ben Hyman Music has once again been chosen as its partner in its Eighth Annual Benefit Concert Series. The concerts will take place on June 19 at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and on June 21 at 7 p.m. at Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck. Each concert will feature a different age group—elementary school, middle school and high school—performing a wide range of music, from Coldplay to ’80s Hair Metal and the young participants, having been selected based on ability and motivation, will be singing and playing instruments.
Ben Hyman, musician, producer of the event and director of Ben Hyman Music, says that this concert “fulfills the vision I had eight years ago of building a program that provides real training for musicians of all ages, and at the same time, helps raise money for charities in need. I loved the idea of kids who are fortunate enough to be healthy, loved and well taken care of, raising money for those that are not as fortunate. The kids have been working really hard and they sound great! It’s an event that brings together the community, raises money for a great cause and provides an important outlet for these hard-working musicians to demonstrate their talents and abilities!”
Hyman chose to partner with Leket Israel because he believes that “what Leket Israel provides is more than just food, it’s peace of mind, for the parents who cannot afford to feed their children, for the children who go to sleep hungry, for the elderly who have no one to provide for them, and they do it by rescuing food that would otherwise be thrown away! It’s an incredible solution to both the food that is wasted in Israel and aiding the demographic within each population that lacks food. Leket bridges that gap.”
“We are honored and grateful to Ben Hyman for choosing to support Leket Israel again at this year’s charity concert series” says Joseph Gitler, Leket Israel founder and chairman. “We know how hard the students have been working over the past many months to prepare for the performances and knowing that their efforts will enable Leket Israel to rescue more food for those in need truly enhances the event. We encourage the performers, their families and the attendees to come volunteer with Leket on their future visits to Israel. Everyone can lend a hand in the various volunteer activities that Leket Israel has to offer.”
