BPY commemorated 9/11 with age appropriate assemblies. The younger grades focused on community helpers and heroes and how each of us can be a hero. The students created an American flag using cut-outs of their hands to symbolize the importance that we all help each other. They created thank-you cards for the local public service men and women and created a wall of gratitude which reinforced the midah of the month, gratitude. In middle school, students came together for an assembly which began with a tefillah and an “El maalei rachamim” This was followed by a reading of poems by students as they reflected on moving forward. The assembly ended with Rabbi Zucker sharing a story about the importance of emunah and the need to be there for each other.
