This year, as the USA celebrated Veterans Day, BPY focused on the importance of showing hakarat hatov to our veterans. The school was honored to welcome Colonel Carl Singer and Colonel Rabbi Kronenberg at a special patriotic assembly where the veterans shared their experiences. Rabbi Kronenberg shared how much it means to soldiers when they receive packages and notes from children. Mrs. Maron, the general studies principal then kicked off the schoolwide granola bar collection for Kosher Troops. BPY will be collecting granola bars through Thanksgiving. These tasty treats will be sent to Jewish American soldiers around the world.
After the assembly, the veterans stayed for a Q& A with the fifth grade students. The students asked thoughtful questions about what it was like to be a soldier.
Although BPY students are still too young to serve, they can proudly show their patriotism and appreciation to the soldiers who help keep us safe. A special thank you to the honored guests for taking the time to share their stories with the students. BPY is forever grateful for all that you did and do for our country!
