This past week, Ben Porat’s fourth grade class celebrated learning Navi! They learned the journey and history of Am Yisrael and the connection to Torat Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. Rav Netanel and Moreh David truly experienced the Navi by “crossing the Yarden” and having a panel that discussed the dilemmas from the Navi. The students put on a play presenting the most powerful scenes from Sefer Yehoshua. They put themselves in Moshe’s shoes and tried to sympathize with this leader who led Am Yisrael from Egypt to the promised land and now wasn’t able to enter. They also put themselves in Yehoshua’s position, who was a humble student who was chosen by Moshe to be the next leader of Israel. The students enacted a beautiful scene about the characteristics of a leader and what leadership is all about. In addition to the students’ presenting the entire conversation in Hebrew, they spoke about the ruach of Eretz Yisrael. The engagement and passion they showed when they blessed Yehoshua with the words “chazak v’ematz” were so meaningful and powerful to the students. Everyone could clearly feel the Mishnat Harav Kook z”l today which is BPY’s school mission of Am Yisrael, Eretz Yisrael and Torat Yisrael coming true!
