Ben Porat Yosef had lots of activity around Thanksgiving this year, with the first grade students welcoming visitors to their ‘Pilgrim and Wampanoag Museum.’ Students acted as museum curators and shared information about the way in which the Pilgrims and Wampanoag people lived, including how they dressed, the foods they ate and their home structures. This was the culmination to a class research project. In another school tradition, the early childhood students had their annual ‘Pow-wow with Chief Morah Jessica.’ The students came to the pow-wow dressed up in their own hand-made Thanksgiving finery and enjoyed stories and songs. Finally, the whole school enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast with delicious food, a choir performance and a school-wide sing-along.
