This Motzei Shabbat, Saturday night, Jan. 6, there will be an evening of soulful music to benefit charities responding meaningfully to the conflicts in Israel and Ukraine.

The concert will be held at the Highland Park Conservative Temple-Congregation Anshe Emeth, at 201 S. 3rd Ave., and will start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25/person and includes a coffeehouse dessert reception.

The featured performance will be In Der Heym/Down Home with Michael Alpert, a Yiddish singer/songwriter, and Craig Judelman, a fiddler and composer.

The concert will also include a performance by the dance band Tsu Fil Duvids (Yiddish for “Too Many Daves”). Tsu Fit Duvids is a klezmer ensemble based in central New Jersey. The planned musicians at this performance are Dave Goldfarb on clarinet; Dave Schiff on bass; Asher (Dave) Siebert on trumpet; Bill (Dave) Selden on accordion; and esteemed guest, Klezmatics co-founder Dave Licht, on drums. The group’s repertoire includes traditional tunes from Eastern Europe, American klezmer and Yiddish melodies.

The concert will benefit Leket, an Israeli based nonprofit that provides meals for Israeli evacuees, and the Leonid Foundation, a New Jersey-based nonprofit that supports Ukrainian immigrants to the state and sends humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
