(BCFL) Father’s Day, June 18, marked the completion of the fourth season of Bergen County Flag Football. The games were intense, the level of play was fierce and, most importantly, the sportsmanship was impressive. In the K/1 division, the Giants battled back to almost catch the Eagles in the semis, while the Buccaneers were upset by the Vikings in a very close game. The Eagles put the finishing touches on their perfect season as they topped the Vikings in the championship game. In the 2/3 division, the Falcons completed their Cinderella run, narrowly defeating the Bengals in the championship game. The 4/5 division also entered the day with four teams alive and they all wanted the championship. Two competitive semifinal games saw the Jaguars’ and Ravens’ runs end as the 49ers and Bills were set to meet in the championship. Both squads were exhausted, but still gave it their all as the 49ers collected the championship hardware. In the 6/7/8 division, the Lions and Bears met in an epic match, but when the smoke cleared the Lions were victorious.
