(BCFL) It has been said that “rain is just nature’s way of testing your commitment to the game.” After a very rainy few months it came as no surprise, when the weatherman predicted showers on Sunday. The boys and fans of the Bergen County Flag Football League, were up to the test and not deterred by a little rain. Fifteen exciting games were played, seven champions were crowned and over 120 trophies were handed out. Almost all of the games went down to the wire and three that were decided in overtime. In the Chopstix championship game, the Giants’ Jack Weiss connected with Zachary Geisler in the back of the end zone for the win. After an insane move by Humble Toast Saints wide receiver Abe Reich, a spectator commented “who needs the NFL when we have such high quality football right here.”
A special thank you to the many volunteer coaches, amazing fans and of course the boys who left it all on the field. Congratulations to your champions: The Humble Toast Cardinals, The La Cucina Di Nava Colts, The Burger Boss Rams and The Chopstix Giants.
New for this season, the brain child of BCFL consultant Ikey Gutlove, there were three Pro Bowl winners: The La Cucina Di Nava Dark Team, The Burger Boss Dark Team and in the Chopstix division the game finished in a tie.
