Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies Holds Annual Graduation Ceremony

The Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies recently held its annual graduation at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel. The graduates are:

Miranda Alper, Julia Baer, Jason Baretz, Alexandra Castiel, Harold (Harry) Cohen, Elisa Damari, Deborah Frank, Brian Graziano, Jonathan Graziano, Carly Haber, Maya Hanan, Samuel Jacobs, Marcelle Katri, Leah Koretski, Scott Koszer, Brett Levine, Danielle Shabi, Michael Sobelman, Bennett Susman and Jonathan Swill. Closing exercises for all other students were held on the last day of school, Sunday, May 17.

Elayne Kalina, President of the school’s Board of Directors, along with Principal, Ms. Bess Adler, and the students’ respective congregational rabbis presented diplomas and gifts to the graduates. Rabbi Ronald Roth of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel shared a d’var Torah.

Excellence in Participation awards were given to Miranda Alper, Harold (Harry) Cohen, Marcelle Katri and Danielle Shabi.

Outstanding Student awards were presented to juniors Emily Forer, Liel Green, Noam Green, Alyssa Seigel-Laddy and Jesse Sifre; sophomores Camryn Bolkin and Eden Hirsch and freshman Jarod Forer and Noah Mandelman. Eighth graders who received outstanding student awards are Julia Holzsager, Sabrina Leibowitz, Brianna Leopold, William Milun and Annabelle Simhon.

The Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies is a regional Sunday school program (“Hebrew High School”) for students in grades 8 – 12.
