Bergen Indivisible for Democracy to Hold Voting Rights Event

Bergen Indivisible for Democracy (BID), a New Jersey all volunteer grassroots organization seeking to make a difference in the community, will be presenting an informative event—Protecting and Expanding Voting Rights—on Wednesday, June 5, 7:30 p.m., at the McCandless Room, 100 Riveredge Road in Tenafly. It will feature guest speaker Jeanne LoCicero, deputy legal director, ACLU-NJ, who will address the current state of voting rights locally and nationally, what the ACLU and other organizations are doing to protect voting rights and what local communities can do to make a difference.

This non-partisan event reflects the BID mission, which, in part, seeks to increase voter awareness and engagement at a time when it is particularly important to educate and inspire the public about the importance of voter participation. BID President and Founder Lori Sackler will moderate the evening in an engaging Q&A format that will allow for an informal dialogue with Jeanne LoCicero, and will conclude with the opportunity for the audience to ask questions and learn about what actions our community can take to support this effort.

“We are so honored to have Jeanne visiting our community so she can speak from personal experience on very important issues such as protecting and expanding voting rights,” said Lori Sackler. “In her long tenure at the ACLU, she is a powerful voice when it comes to litigating for civil rights, empowering communities and influencing public policy. It is sure to be a thought-provoking and eye-opening evening for everyone who attends.”

The evening is free and open to the public. To register, please go to https://www.eventbrite.com. To learn more about BID, please visit www.bergenindivisiblefordemocracy.org
