CJID’s Upcoming Lecture by Rabbi Paysach Krohn in Memory of Alli Cimring Dorfman

The Center for Jewish Identity’s (CJID) annual lecture, presented by Rabbi Paysach Krohn in memory of Allison Cimring Dorfman, will take place on Tuesday, July 14, at 8:15 p.m. at Congregation Keter Torah, 600 Roemer Avenue in Teaneck. Rabbi Paysach Krohn is a well-known inspirational speaker who will present “Becoming a Source of Blessing” in Alli’s memory, to help continue Alli’s mission of bringing goodness to others. Alli’s warmth, eagerness to help others and inherent good nature made her a great friend to all she came in contact with. Together with her husband, Lloyd, she participated in the CJID’s programs for many years. Her enthusiasm, as well as her pride in being Jewish, enhanced CJID’s early classes and Shabbos meals. Alli’s life was tragically cut short by a motor vehicle accident, and she is sorely missed by all who knew her.

The Center for Jewish Identity, an affiliate of Torah Links, is a Jewish learning organization dedicated to bringing a relevant and practical perspective of the beauty, depth and joy of Judaism to Jewish men, women and children of all backgrounds and affiliations. For more information about the Center for Jewish Identity, about the lecture or to share your memories of Alli in the Memorial Book, please visit CJID.org or contact Rabbi Yitzchok Weinberger at [email protected] or 484-620-6187.

Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Weinberg to Explore Hasidic Motifs of the Rav at Rinat Yisrael

On Shabbat, July 18, at 6:50 p.m., Congregation Rinat Yisrael’s Adult Education Program presents a lecture by Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Weinberg, from Yeshiva University, on the topic of “One Heart, One Mind: Hasidic Motifs in the Life and Thought of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik.” Rabbi Soloveitchik was a great Torah giant and the leader of American Jewry in the 20th century. While he was certainly appreciated for his scholarly mind and penetrating talmudic insights, the rich emotional spirit that lay just beneath the surface is often overlooked. This lecture will explore the Chasidic origins and nature of Rav Soloveitchik’s sensitive soul and world view. Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Weinberg currently teaches in Yeshiva University’s Irving I. Stone Beit Medrash Program (SBMP), where he also serves as Mashgiach Ruchani. A graduate of Yeshiva University, Rabbi Weinberg received his semicha from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg of Jerusalem and has also been certified by the Center for Integrated Teacher Education. Rabbi Weinberg has worked as a Jewish educator for over 10 years, teaching at TABC and the Moriah School, before joining the YU faculty. He has served as a guest speaker and scholar in Jewish communities and college campuses across the country. Additionally, Rabbi Weinberg offers a variety of weekly inspirational shiurim in the Teaneck and Bergenfield area, where he lives with his wife and children.
