JNF Fort Lee Breakfast to Feature Major General Doron Almog

Jewish National Fund invites you to the Ft. Lee Community Breakfast, Sunday, November 8, 9:30-11 a.m., at the Young Israel of Ft. Lee, 1610 Parker Ave., Ft. Lee, NJ.

The event features guest speaker Major General (res.) Doron Almog, Founder and Chairman of Aleh Negev-Nahalat Eran. Major General Almog served in the IDF from 1969-2004 and led the first paratrooper force to land in Entebbe, Uganda, in the 1976 hostage rescue operation. In 1984, he led the airlift of more than 6,000 Ethiopian Jews to Israel, and headed Israel’s Southern Command from 2001 to 2004. He is Chairman of Aleh Negev-Nahalat Eran, a rehabilitative village in Israel’s Negev desert for the country’s most severe special-needs population. General Almog said he learned from his son Eran, of blessed memory, the village’s first resident, that society is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable members.

The breakfast is hosted by Rabbi Zev Goldberg with event committee members Doryne Davis, Jane Nelson, Joan Oppenheimer, Debbie Rogoff, Fania Roza and Rita Wilder. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. RSVP to [email protected]. For more information, contact Jocelyn Inglis [email protected] or 973.593.0095 x823.

Yavneh Academy to Hold 11th Annual 5K/1 Mile Fun Run

The 11th Annual Yavneh Academy Benjamin Schwartz Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will be held on Sunday, November 8, at the Garden State Plaza. The event, named for the brother of Yavneh parent Mendy Schwartz, provides a wonderful opportunity for the greater community to join the Yavneh Academy family in support of our wonderful school. Last year, the 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk had over 800 participants and raised over $50,000 for Yavneh Academy Scholarship needs. It would mean a great deal to our school to see Yavneh’s supporters come together in support of our efforts to provide a quality education to all those who desire it.

Participants of the 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk are treated to a pre-race workout and a buffet breakfast. At the culmination of the race, medals are presented to the top runners in the various age categories. The Yavneh 5K is a great way to have fun, get in shape and raise money for a worthwhile cause.

To register for the race or to sponsor a runner, please visit www.yavnehacademy.org and click on Fun Run/Walk.

For more information about the race and Yavneh Academy, please call Michelle Weinraub at 201-262-8494 ext 309.
