Bergenfield Clothing Retailer Petit Chic Sends Clothing to Houston

As everyone watches the devastation in Houston take hold, communities around the world mobilized to provide assistance. Petit Chic, a Bergenfield clothing retailer, wanted to do something, and knew that she could provide assistance in a unique way. As a retailer for modest childrens clothing, she gathered up her inventory and sent a trunk load of clothing with her brother who was traveling to Houston. The irony of this time of year is not lost on Fuchs. “I have appointments booked all day for people looking to find Yom Tov clothing for their children,” she said. “But these families can’t even think about that yet. They need basic shirts and skirts.”

For people looking to replace their belongings, modest clothing is often harder to find, which was also part of Fuchs’ motivation in sending what she has. “This is not the type of clothing you can just pick up in Old Navy or Target.” she explained. “What better way can I help than by sending a collection of niche items? These are brands I know people love and will go to good use.”

Fuchs and Petit Chic are no strangers to community involvement. Fuchs donated clothing to Teaneck’s annual clothing drive, held in Keter Torah each summer, and donates to many community raffles.

“When a need arises in the community she is among the first to step up to the plate,” said Fuchs’ husband, Ari. “Whether that means contributing goods, services or her time, she never shies away from community responsibility. Supporting Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in Houston is just one example of the causes she has supported.”
