Bergenfield—January 1 was a big day for local Bergenfield government and facilities as two council members, a fire chief, and two deputy fire chiefs were sworn in along with the selection of a council member to serve as council president for the next year.
Councilwoman Ora C. Kornbluth was sworn in for her second term by State Senator Robert Gordon, and Councilman Charles Steinel was sworn in for his second term by Assemblyman Timothy Eustace. Following their swearing in, they, along with their fellow council members, elected Councilman Christopher Tully as Council President for the duration of 2014 and confirmed Mayor Norman Schemlz’ nomination of John L. Schettino as Borough Attorney.
After the council swearing-ins and appointments were dealt with, Councilman Thomas Lodata, who serves as the town’s fire commissioner, swore in Jason Lanzilotti as Chief of the fire department and Gerard Naylis and Christopher Saito as the department’s Deputy Chiefs.
