Bergen’s Team Sari to Run in Miami for Chai Lifeline

When Sari Ort was 10 years old, she was diagnosed with cancer. From that time, until she passed away at the age of 12, Sari’s classmates at Yeshivat Noam, her neighbors and her friends saw firsthand the joy that Chai Lifeline and Camp Simcha brought to Sari’s life.

To honor Sari, and to help give back to Chai Lifeline, five girls from the Teaneck / Bergenfield / New Milford community, led by captain Shira Hagler (9th grade, Bruria HS), will run as “Team Sari” in the Miami Marathon, on Sunday, January 25, 2015. Shira is joined by Batsheva Ohayon (8th grade, Yeshivat Noam), Rafaella Kestenbaum (8th grade, Yeshivat Noam), Meira Baum (8th grade, Yeshivat Noam) and Daniella Ort (7th grade, Yeshivat Noam). The girls have set a fundraising goal of $25,000, and are more than 2/3 of the way there.

“We know that everyone is already giving Tzedakah to a lot of important organizations, so in our fundraising letters, we asked people for small donations. Donations of $25, $36 or $50 from lots of people is what will get us over the finish line,” said Shira Hagler.

To help Team Sari’s runners reach their goal, contributions may be made on Team Sari’s website, www.teamlifeline.org/my/60299 (or go to www.TeamLifeline.org, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the link for Team Sari).
