In partnership with Chabad of Stamford, CTEEN Stamford teens and Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy Upper School, students raised over $3,000 last week to support a worthwhile charity in Israel.
”Dessert for the Desert” was organized by teens in the upper school’s Israel Advocacy Club, while lower school students were tasked with supporting this fundraiser through the most enjoyable role of treat taste testers and bake sale influencers.
The event kicked off with a CTeen Mitzvah Bake for Israel on Sunday, November 17, where teens baked and prepared delicious treats. All of the baked goods were beautifully assembled and decorated and showed love and hope for Israel in every sweet bite.
During the next week, students created flyers, emails and social posts about the bake sale, sharing information with the parents, staff, neighbors and friends throughout the BCHA community. After robust fundraising sales, all of the treats were quickly sold out, packed up and brought home for families to enjoy throughout the local Stamford Jewish community.
This wonderful achievement is a testament to the power of community and the commitment of young people coming together for a cause they believe in.
At BCHA, Israel is never far from the children’s hearts, and as an expression of BCHA’s values, these students met the challenge of bringing sweetness to a homeland darkened by war.
