Connecticut’s Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy (BCHA) in Stamford is living up to its promise as “a small school that delivers big results,” especially its high school seniors applying early to colleges for the coming fall.

“We are often asked, ‘How is a school of your size doing with college placement?’” explained BCHA Head of School Rabbi Tzvi Bernstein. “Implicit in the question is a concern that attendance at a small school impacts negatively on college admissions results when, in fact, we are proving that the opposite is true.”

“Early college acceptances are indeed rolling in again this year at BCHA, and that includes the ‘ivies,’” noted Rabbi Shimmy Trencher, principal of BCHA’s upper school. “We have one student accepted early at Yale, another at Brown University, another at Yeshiva University; one student accepted early into two BA/MD programs, which shorten the years to the MD degree and are highly competitive for admission, and another invited to apply to a prestigious three-plus-three Bachelors/JD Degree program, which shortens the years for a law degree.”

Students applying this year for early decision (which is binding) and early action (non-binding), have also seen acceptances from: Binghamton University, Drexel, Rochester Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Rutgers, Stony Brook, University of Denver, University of Pittsburgh and more, according to Rabbi Trencher.

“Last year, BCHA seniors experienced similar early admissions success,” added Rabbi Bernstein, “in keeping with the excellence of the education our students receive, the character we build here and the top-notch college guidance provided throughout a student’s years at BCHA.”
