Throughout the month of December, a number of exciting special events, all open to the public, will occur in Black Box Studios’ new Performing Arts Center at 200 Walraven Dr., just off Palisade Avenue, in Teaneck.
On Saturday, December 12, at 8p.m., local professional actors and BBS teaching artists will convene for a reading of the comedic play “Wonder Of The World” by David Lindsay-Abaire.
“Wonder” is a wild ride over Niagra Falls as a woman embarks on a journey of self-discovery that has her crossing paths with a blithely suicidal alcoholic, a lonely tour-boat captain, a pair of bickering private detectives and a strange caper involving a gargantuan jar of peanut butter, all of which pushes her perilously close to the water’s edge.
“Hefty laughter…exceedingly whimsical and playfully wicked. Winning and genial. A top-drawer production.”—The New York Times.
Tickets, all $10, are available at www.blackboxnynj.com. Space permitting, seats will be available at the door about 1/2 hour before showtime; viewer discretion is advised. “Wonder Of The World” is presented in special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, NY.
The next event is the Annual Winter Talent Showcase on Saturday, December 19.
Early Bird Registration continues throughout December for all Spring Semester Collaborative Theater Workshops, as well as for Summer 2016’s Rock Musical Theater Intensive and Dramatic Theater Intensive. Look for information about the end-of-semester student shows, running in “rep” from 1/7-1/18! Details at www.blackboxnynj.com.
A formal grand opening for the new BBS space is being planned for January, 2016. For further information, visit www.blackboxnynj.com, or email [email protected] and/or [email protected].
