The Black Box Performing Arts Center proudly presents a new production of the original comedy/drama “Twist Of Faith.” This newly revised production of the Off-Broadway hit is written and directed by Michael Gurin, and based on an original concept by Matt Okin. Featuring two extraordinary young professional actors, Mike Gardiner and Joseph Ramondino, “Twist of Faith” will play weekly, from Wednesday, March 22, through Wednesday, May 24, at 8:30 p.m. (except for the April 12 performance, which will begin at 9:15 p.m.) at Black Box Studios’ new home, Teaneck’s Black Box Performing Arts Center. Most performances will be followed by an audience talk back with the performers and creative team.
In “Twist of Faith,” Sam, a wealthy young commodities trader completely indifferent to his Jewish heritage, is forced to spend a Sabbath in the religious Jewish section of Boro Park, Brooklyn. He is surprisingly—and hilariously—moved by his Sabbath experience with Baruch, a nervous young Orthodox Jew who—following his encounter with Sam—has his own faith challenged by a series of life-altering events. As Sam re-evaluates his Jewish identity, he embarks upon a brand-new life of religious observance while Baruch eventually decides whether or not to leave his faith behind. Throughout it all, the two men argue with passion, insight and humor about the meaning of existence.
