On Pesach, as we go through the Haggadah, we learn about the four sons. Before learning about the children it says that we should bless The One who gave His nation the Torah.
Why is that?
Each one of us can have a different perception of what it means to be wise, evil, simple or a child who doesn’t know how to ask. Each year we can ask ourselves which child we are most like. However, what we should realize is that we may not be like one particular child all year round. We are all capable of acting like the child we should be by our choices! No matter what characteristics come to your mind when you think of these children, it is their choices that make them who they are.
Going back to my original question, we must not act by desire but by the Torah. We bless God for giving all of His children the Torah, even if we don’t always use it as we should. God gives us the Torah to help us make the correct choices and we must praise him for allowing us to do so.
