Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Students across all grades participated in Bnos Aliya’s 2025 brachos bee on Thursday, February 13, in honor of Tu B’Shevat. Each grade held its own competition, testing students on their respective materials until a class winner was crowned.

Lower Elementary: Noa Cohen

Upper Elementary: Leah Gansbourg

Middle School: Sonya Sunden

The three finalists then competed in a schoolwide brachos bee, facing lightning rounds of challenging questions and reciting brachos ba’al peh. In a nail-biting finale, Leah Gansbourg took the win, earning her class a trip.

Following the schoolwide brachos bee, students from all grades came together for a Tu B’Shevat activity—Make Your Own Granola Bar.

Each student followed a recipe, carefully measuring ingredients such as oats, peanut butter, honey, salt and chocolate chips to create their granola bar mixture. After mixing, they flattened it into a pan, sliced it into bars and wrapped them. To personalize their creations, students designed and cut out their own labels before packaging their bars to take home.

The hands-on experience made for a fun and delicious way to celebrate Tu B’Shevat, as students enjoyed both the process and the tasty results.
